Georgina - Mother of two (aged 2 and 4) and Primary School Teacher.
These tender tales capture perfectly the world of insects. Each of the main characters has an endearing appeal and the text is enhanced by wonderful illustrations. The books are entertaining yet subtly factual with interesting learning points at the back which act as a great educational extension (for the adult reader too!). I would highly recommend this range of stories if I found them on the shelves in the bookshops. They would also be a great tool in the classroom to support the introduction to minibeasts. I hope there are more bugbites stories on the way.
Claire - mother of three (aged 4, 7 and 9) and Primary School Teacher.
I like the illustrations, they’re fun. There are opportunities for counting and a good range of vocabulary. They are fiction but with some great facts about specific insects. Great for boys. I think the age range for three to seven year olds is about right - my four year old boy enjoyed hearing the stories read to him, they would be a comfortable read for my seven year old and whilst a little young for my nine year old he did enjoy the facts at the back. Inform and entertain seems to be their ethos.
Amanda - Primary School teacher for Reception, Key Stages 1 and 2 classes.
I like these books and think there is definitely and niche in the market for them. They have a unique combination of storytelling and fact which would make them appeal to a wide age range of children.
Rosie - Head Teacher at Nursery School.
These books enable me to tick almost every box in the Foundation Stage Curriculum. They cover Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Development and Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
Rosalind - Mother of 4
These are good. The stories really made me want to read on and find out what happened and I liked the Bugbites and the end.
Rebecca - Aged 8
I really liked reading the stories and I liked the page at the back. It was interesting.
Jane - mother of two (aged 4 and 8). Helps in reading classes at school.
What lovely stories. I read them to Jenny (aged 4) and she really enjoyed them. I found them really interesting and learnt things I didn’t know about the insects. I would love to take these into school to read them with the children.
Sally - mother of 2 (aged 6 and 9)
What great stories and what a good idea to have the facts at the back - I didn’t know some of those things. Cameron (aged 6) would really enjoy reading these books and I would certainly buy books like this for him.
Marion - Mother of 2 (aged 3 and 8)
These are really good stories. My eight year old would love them and she could read them to her little brother.
